A rebuild is not a large repair. A repair corrects a defined fault. A rebuild restores the asset as a complete system, and the difference shows up in how the work is planned, scoped and documented.
1. Assessment comes first
Before anything is disassembled, the asset is assessed against how it is actually used, what its history looks like, and what the operation needs from it. Not every machine is a sensible rebuild candidate, and saying so early is more useful than discovering it halfway through.
2. Scope is agreed, not assumed
A controlled rebuild has a defined scope:

- What standard components are restored to
- Which parts are replaced regardless of condition

3. Strip down and inspect

4. Restore, replace, reassemble
Suitable components are reconditioned, worn ones replaced with parts selected for the application, and the machine is built back with the care that determines whether the rebuild lasts.
Tip: Most premature failures after a rebuild trace back to how it went together, not to which parts were used.
